A question being posted to the youinvisiontampa.com website is: "If you had a magic wand what would you change about Tampa."  Here's my response (I have 5 likes so far):

"If I had a magic wand for Tampa I would wave it twice. Once for more urban housing and revitalized downtown neighborhoods and another to help everyone understand that good urban design must be a priority for our city.

I am very excited to see the city undertaking the master plan process but design should be its focus. It should build on efforts that have already been taken such as the Sustainable Design Assessment Team (SDAT) process that was completed a couple years ago entitled "Connecting Tampa" and the ULI process that just wrapped and put emphasis on good design. This includes complete streets, a connected transportation network, and developing a unique design vocabulary."

I also understand that until there is enough housing options for people to live near downtown you won't see the city grow again. We need urban housing options to populate downtown establishments, create new business, make mass transit possible, retain talent, and lower the overall cost of living.

well said JoAnne!
