As a graduate of UF I can attest to the visitors to the Bat Tower. A few of the places I lived through school were home to a few bats (how many I never knew, but would see some from time to time at night).

Interesting article Grant, and I think the story of "mosquito control" and "pesticide use reduction" make the tower idea a home-run!

I'm also a UF grad., B of Design in Arch, 1991.

I'm not a bat expert, I lived in Austin for 10 years, and I was raised in Temple Terrace, both places having an association with bats.

Thanks for your comments. I like the bat roost/native species/pesticide alternative/early scientific experiment/historic preservation/restoring Old Florida/tourist attraction flavor of the project....
