I think we first we should reuse reclaimed water for irrigation on ALL yards and golf courses and agriculture everywhere in the county. The problem with this is the little reclaimed water that Tampa has is not filtered well and still has lots of s...

At least not in abundance. I was looking for a material for my patio floor similar to TREX decking only in tile form. I did find this online but distributors locally are blatantly absent. California seems to be the mecca for green materials, why i...

Reinventing Green

Welcome to my space! I am intrigued to see how this mosaic of participants can change the profile of Tampa's urban landscape. My passions are the environment and renovation of older property. I am trained as an environmental scientist specializing in water resources. My first effort in helping to shape an urban vision was in the 1970's in Indianapolis when the new downtown riverscape was being designed (by European LAs). I had a chance to research the Indianapolis Waterway Canal and make recommendations to improve its health and ultimately make it part of the downtown master plan.

I have renovated property in the mid-west, Maine and New Hampshire and several properties in Hillsborough County. I love the design and space challenge and now want to renovate a small property using green materials. This started with an investigation into using "paperstone" for a counter top for my own renovated home and now I'm hooked!

I am a senior manager working for one of the world's largest engineering and environmental firms - in wastewater, water and reclaimed water treatment and analysis. My vision is how Tampa could look in the future as it is a relatively raw canvass waiting to re-invent itself - will this group be the catalyst? I would love to participate in an movement to make Tampa one of the first green cities. I love Tampa and its karma. A city surrounded by water is a diamond in the rough. Can we help its leaders expand their vision? Can we be the new leaders?

My photo? Enjoying the walking city of Quebec during its 400th anniversary last year. Let's bring our collaborative experiences together to create something new and exciting! Vive la Tampa Bay!

Recycled Materials in Florida - Not Yet!

At least not in abundance. I was looking for a material for my patio floor similar to TREX decking only in tile form. I did find this online but distributors locally are blatantly absent. California seems to be the mecca for green materials, why is Florida lagging so badly? Same with Paperstone - no dealers just a fellow in Pinellas Park who fabricates countertops, interiors, etc. I have yet to contact him but how dismal I can't go to my local Home Depot, etc. and just find these materials easil… Continue
