good stuff from the article... This is great News for our community.

Things can change, though. They used to call USF "Drive-Thru U" but look at that place now. The transformation on that campus is stunning, so it's not surprising that President Judy Genshaft is a catalyst in this deal.

"Everybody used to ask, 'What can I get out of this?'" Sharpe said. "Now, people are talking."

Why can this work now? Nothing has before.

"We have people now in place who are not from the old school," Montelione said. "We have a new mayor, new spirit, new energy. I see a more walkable, accessible office and retail environment. I see more jobs. I see the area as more of a bustling hub.

"The neighborhoods want this change. Planning has been nonexistent before. That's changing now."
